Oo Kiow @ Weld Quay

Last Sunday..I blogged about Amelie's Cafe , which is located at Armenian Street..on the same day...we went for some desserts at Weld Quay Area..which is also the end of Gat Lebuh Aceh..It was around 4.00PM and the sun was starting to play its role..It was glaring..and hot during that hour..

So we decided to have something to cool ourselves..the three of us..Jye, Phui Leng and Me went to the small little stall..which sells desserts and drinks..and also the famous dessert which is called "Oo Kiow"..

Here's one of the road signs to look out for..when you are searching for the stall..it is located right at the corner of the road sign..and you wont miss it..!

Various Selections

There are many choices for drinks and desserts..and it is consider cheap as it is difficult to find drinks and desserts below the price of RM2.00 these days..

Mini Van Stall

You can see that there are a few selections of drinks..like the Ice Pandan Drink which is naturally made from Pandan leaves, Red Syrup with Jellies, and Chendol which is also one of their specialties..

Chendol is made up of coconut milk, red beans and pandan jellies and topped of with brown sugar syrup..which is actually one of my favourite desserts too..!! =)

Old Ice Kachang Machine

I once blogged about the Cheapest Ice Kachang in Penang , which uses that same old ice kachang machine..it is good to see another vendor using it..and preserving the traditional way of preparing crushed ice..

Here's the owner is rolling the wheel..while crushing the ice below the cutter..hence..producing the crushed ice..which is used for the Chendol, Oo Kiow and other drinks..

The Famous Oo Kiow

Finally the Oo Kiow was served after we waited for bout 5-10mins..There were many people crowding the stall..waiting to be served and order..So you can imagine how good the business is..

On such a hot and warm day..having one of this..will cool your body and temperature..and apart from all that..It tasted soft and delicious..!!  

What's on the Inside?

Look at the transparent-like jelly..which is called the Oo Kiow..It is soft and smooth in terms of texture..and it is mildly sweet..just like our normal jelly (agar-agar)..It comes with one Lychee..and crushed ice..

If you have it there..it will only cost RM1.40 per serving..and if you plan to take-away then it will cost extra 10cents (RM1.50)..
