It will be about a week before my next posting..So here's one before leaving to KL tomorrow..!!
Nyonya Food is considered a popular cuisine in Malaysia..Nyonya Food originated from the Baba and Nyonya Era, when it was during the Japanese Invasion in our country, Malaysia..
The Nyonya's during that time are well known for their cooking skills as they are responsible to cook delicious food for their husbands, the Baba's..

Nyonya Breeze brings a wide selection of Nyonya dishes..and located around office and town area..The restaurant are always packed with customers at all times..especially during
weekends..Recently, when my dear friend Sandra came back from KL, I recommended Nyonya Breeze to her..as she was in the mood for some Nyonya Food..
A View on the Outside

This is the signboard to look out for when you are searching for Nyonya Breeze..It was dark when I took the picture that night..

Green is the theme for Nyonya Breeze..you will find that most of their shop signboards, labels and even menus are Green in colour..!

History

Here's the history of the Peranakan Era...where the male counterparts are called Baba and the female counterparts are called Nyonya..Wanna know more..? Visit the restaurant and read about the history..

Nyonya Costume

There is a nyonya costume which is hanged on the wall as decoration..and look below..there is even a take-away basket which is used during the Peranakan days for storing food and take-aways..

Newspaper Cuttings/Advertisement

Nyonya Breeze has been advertise in many newspapers before..like our famous local newspaper provider, The Star..There were many newspaper cuttings in the restaurant, from English to Chinese Newspaper portraying dishes from Nyonya Breeze and there is even one..which shows the picture of the Chef ( Above picture : right )..

Menu

Again..the menu potrayed the Green Theme of the Restaurant..By the way..do you know that green soothes the human eyes and keeps you calm and refreshing..?

This is one of my favourite dish..!! Kari Kapitan is made up of thicked savoury curry chicken, coconut milk, kaffir lime leaves and lime juice..

It has a sweet and salty gravy..the spiciness are mild and it is slightly creamy..For those who is not able to take spicy food..they are recommended to order the Kari Kapitan..
The sweet and tender chicken makes is easy to consume..especially for children..

The small portion of the Kari Kapitan will cost only RM12.00 and the Large portion will cost RM16.80..

Spinach Vegetables

Apart from all the oily food..and meat..we should practice a balance diet of food..So we add on another dish which is the Spinach Vegetables also known as Bayam in Malay..

There are many other types of vegetables such as the Potato Leaves ( Huan Chu Heok ) and Water Convolvulus ( Eng Chai ), and there is a choice of cooking it with Sambal or just stir-fried with garlic..The picture above is the one which is stir-fried with Garlic..

Now here is a dish which Nyonya Breeze customers should order..the Egg Belanda..

Egg Belanda is prepared by adding fried eggs to a sweet and sour gravy of tamarind extract, onions and chillies..It is then finished off with sprinkles of deep fried onions..
Although there are chillies in one of the ingredients..the dish does not taste spicy at all..just sweet and sour..

The Egg Belanda will cost RM3.60 per plate of two eggs, additional charges will be charged for extra eggs..

Potato Sago

Potato Sago

For desserts..we decided to order the Potato Sago..which is also known as Huan Chu Sago in Hokkien..
The potatoes tasted sweet and I love the chewy Sago which is the transparent round jelly..
Their dessert changes everyday..So be sure to ask the waiter for the dessert of the day..!

Drinks

As for drinks..me and mum ordered the Crysanthemum which costs RM1.30 per glass, another two drinks are the Ginger Tea ( RM 2.00 ) and Nutmeg ( RM2.00 )..

Nyonya Breeze's Crowd

Took this picture on purpose to show the crowd at Nyonya Breeze..the restaurant is crowded almost everyday..especially during dinner hours..So be sure that you are early as it will be difficult to find a place to park and also a place to sit..

Side Window

Took a picture of the side window before leaving..another sign to look out for when you are visiting the restaurant for the first time..

Last Sunday ( 22nd August 2010 ), My dear friend Cassandra a.k.a Sandra came back from KL..and we decided to meet up..Oh well, we meet up each time she comes back..!! She was back for a day trip..and I decided to meet her for tea time since I've taken my lunch..
There were altogether Eight of us..Me,Jye,Connie,Sandra,Pooi Sin,Adeline and Phui Leng..

Phui Leng, suggested we go to Kopi Cine, since we made the plan a week ago..
Located at the ground floor of a motel at Stewart Lane ( End of Chulia Street ), Kopi Cine provides many home-made cuisines which ares famous among tourists and locals..

The name of the restaurant is derived from a unique combination.."Kopi" is the Malay term of "Coffee" and "Cine" is taken from the word "Cinema"..Hence the name Kopi Cine is created..! Kopi Cine is located at the core area of the UNESCO Heritage Site at Stewart Lane..hence there are always tourist dining at Kopi Cine..

A View of the Motel and Kopi Cine

You can see that Kopi Cine is located at the ground floor of the Motel..I found a few pictures online regarding the motel rooms..and it was stunning..!! (Search for Stewart Lane at Google)..

The Reading Room

The entrance to our table which is located at the Reading Room beside the Kopi Cine..It is called the Reading Room because there is a library of books behind our tables and at the back before the washroom..

Open-Air Area

There is an open air area which is outside the Reading Room Section..A perfect place to chill during a warm and cooling afternoon..

Bar

The Bar is the only object which has a modern touch in the Restaurant..However it is nicely built to compliment the pre-war building and the Heritage Style at Kopi Cine..

Menu

Simple menu which can be flipped upwards..

Me and Sandra

Here's an introduction picture of me and the main character of the day..my dearest Sandra..It's been a while since we last took a picture together..

There are more pictures below after the food..I put the picture above before the food..is because it is one of my favourite pictures of the day..and besides..She is my best friend..and my dearest friend..whom I'm going to miss when she leaves Malaysia..!!

Layered Ice Cream Cake ( Gula Melaka Ice Cream )

Layered Ice Cream Cake ( Gula Melaka Ice Cream ) - Up Closed

The first picture above is my picture of the day..!

Me and Jye decided to order the Layered Ice Cream Cake..since the both of us had already taken our lunch..
The Layered Ice Cream Cake consists of three flavours of ice cream..the Vanilla Ice Cream at the top, then the Home-made Gula Melaka Ice Cream, and the Chocolate Ice cream..in between those ice creams..are thin Chocolate Bars..
It is then Sprinkled with Chocolate Syrup and Sugar-Coated Almonds..One piece will only cost RM18.00..One of the desserts which you must try when you visit Kopi Cine..! ♥

Apple Pudding with Gula Melaka Ice Cream

Apple Pudding with Gula Melaka Ice Cream

This was served right after the Layered Cake..The Apple Pudding with Gula Melaka Ice Cream is shared between Sandra, Pooi Sin and Adeline..

The Apple Pudding has a strong apple fragrance, it is not sweet which is why it is served with the Gula Melaka Ice Cream..

It will cost only RM18.00 per portion..

Scrambled Eggs with Toast

Scrambled Eggs with Toast ( Up Closed )

As for Phui Leng, it was lunch time for her..as she just finished her morning shift..
She ordered the Scrambled Eggs with Toast which is under the breakfast menu..

The dish comes with two slices of toasted bread and scrambled eggs..It is accompanied with Red Chillies in Olive Oil and a small piece of butter..All this will only cost RM16.00..

Iced Mocha and Orange Juice

Iced Mocha and Orange Juice ( Up Closed )

As for Sandra and Adeline, they both had Orange Juice..and for Pooi Sin and Phui Leng, they both ordered the same drink..the Iced Mocha..

The Orange Juice has a thick texture, and it is sweet and sour in taste..
As for the Iced Mocha..Pooi Sin said it tasted just nice..but Phui Leng felt that it tasted too bitter so she decided to add on some sugar syrup..
The Orange Juice costs RM10.00 per glass and the Iced Mocha costs RM9.00..

Mixed Tropical Fruit and Mango,Orange and Strawberry Frappes

Mixed Tropical Fruit and Mango,Orange and Strawberry Frappes

Since the food and drinks are a little bit pricey..Me and Jye decided to share a drink..So we ordered the Mango,Orange and Strawberry Frappes which is actually a Fruit Ice Blended Smoothies..It tasted sour and sweet..However, the mango taste is very strong..

As for Connie, she ordered the Mixed Tropical Fruit Frappes..It has a strong banana taste..and it is sticky in terms of texture..Great for those who loves bananas and fruits..!

Both the Frappes will cost RM14.00 each..

Now let's take a look around the place in detail..

Traditional Coffee Beans Processor

History of the Coffee Bean Processor

There are two cauldrons which are located at the back of the restaurant..It is actually a traditional Coffee Bean Processor..which are used to produce coffee beans..
There is a written history of the Processor and who invented it on the side of the Traditional Processor..
Now it is only used for display purposes..

Mini Library

Here's the Mini Library that I mentioned above ( The Reading Room Entrance ), It is placed right before the washroom which is located at the back of the restaurant..

Me, Sandra, Phui Leng and Connie

Now it is time to snap some pictures with our dear friend and main character of the day, Sandra..She is always as cheerful and happy like the good old days..when we were back in high school..!

Adeline and Pooi Sin

Crayons for Drawings

The tables are spread with White Drawing papers..which you are allowed to draw your own designs and portraits..
Look at the above picture before the crayons..Pooi Sin was drawing a wooden house and trees..haha..Not bad..!!
As for Adeline..she was still figuring out those crayons..LOL..

Library of Books

Here's one of the bookshelves which has a large selection of books for reading purposes..which is why it is called the Reading Room..

Sketches of the Straits

One of the books displayed on the shelf..Took a picture of this book on purpose..as the colour of the book and the sunlight makes it look like an antique book..

Notice!

As written on the notice..the books which are displayed at Kopi Cine..are all for reading purposes only..and not for sale..!! So be sure to put them back at their respective place after reading it..

Connie, Phui Leng, Me and Sandra

Again..more pictures of us..!! Jye suggested that we sit at the bench behind our table..which comfortably fits the four of us..!! Such a rare sight to see the four of taking pictures together..as Sandra has always been staying far away from us, and Connie dislikes taking pictures..So..this will be a memorable picture..!!

Wooden Sofa

This is the bench that I mentioned above..The cushions have different coverings and designs..

The Scholars!!

Look at us..!! Trying to improve our knowledge even when we are having our tea time..!! LoL..Sandra seems so interested in the book, Phui Leng on the other hand..looks like she found some new interesting facts..and as for me..I look like I'm just flipping through the pages finding something good..

Besties..!

Another picture which I loved..!! The picture and background makes it look like we are living in the 80's..The Pre-war building really does compliment most of our pictures..Since we are reminiscing our good old days when we were much younger..Makes me feel like I'm in my thirties now..

Me!

Saw this advertisement regarding house for rent..Looks colourful and tempted me to take a picture with it..

Me Again!!

We found a few uniquely designed balls which are displayed beside our table..Looks like a magical orb to me..!

One last One of Me..!

Since the rest of us are taking pictures of ourselves..I decided to take one of myself too..!!
At that time..I started to feel sleepy and tired..Hence..the sleepy eyes..!!

Overall, I had a great afternoon with those girls..I can't wait to see Sandra again this coming Saturday in KL..!! So stay tune for more updates in KL..!!
