Penang being famous for its delicacies and tourist heritage attractions has added another newly opened cafe to the list of "cafes to visit". With its unique presentation of food served on wood boards,Coffee Smith attracts patrons to experience a contemporary style of dining and environment with overhead light bulbs providing cozy vibes.

Located at Maritime Piazza, Karpal Singh Drive, Coffee Smith Penang serves Western cum Italian style cuisine and the number of crowd never ceases to amaze me especially during the weekends.

Antique Phone Decoration

Coffee Smith Penang is decorated with English/European style ambiance by having imprints of Paris and London on table mats, banners and posters of London as well as a London double decker bus on display.

Toilet Signage

Recycled Barrel Chairs

Now for the long awaited food which finally arrives after we took some pictures..

Grilled Cuttlefish with Peppermint Sauce

The first dish to arrive was the Grilled Cuttlefish with Peppermint Sauce, I must say I'm satisfied with the portion given as the whole Cuttlefish was grilled and drizzled with peppermint sauce and finally topped off with a handful of salad.

The cuttlefish was grilled to perfection and the tenderness remains within..It will only cost RM 16.00 per serving.

Garlic White Wine Clams Noodle

Salad and Soup

Soon as we finished our first dish, the next to arrive was the Garlic White Wine Clams Noodle..Hmm.. I must say I'm not that satisfied with this dish..

The Garlic White Wine clams noodle comes in a set with a side of coffee, salad and soup..

I can hardly taste any white wine but then again, the clams were not fresh hence we had to throw a few aside, overall I must say this is a disappointment for my first try and besides being a priced at RM 19.00, I was expecting much better than this.

Sicilian Chicken Sandwich

Now here's something that I would recommend, the Sicilian Chicken Sandwich. Sandwich between two lightly toasted bread, there are onions, and cabbage with well cooked chicken and a finishing of basil pesto.

It comes with a side of french fries and mayonaise sauce and all for the price of RM 14.00.
Though it may come out a little dry due to the breast meat of the chicken, I would still say it's a good try for the sandwich.

Eggs Benedict with Hollandaise Sauce

Egg Benedict is one of my all time favourite food, and I would expect perfection when it comes to this dish wherever I order it..

The eggs are cooked to perfection, however, I didnt like the ham, and it would taste much better if there was more Hollandaise Sauce as I could barely taste them..
The Egg Benedict serving also comes with a side of french fries and two meat burgers which is too overpowered by herbs that I could hardly taste the meat..

With the price of RM 24.00 per portion, I would say it's a little pricey considering the size and taste of the servings.

Potted Milk Tea

Potted Strawberry Milk Shake

Potted Mango Milk Shake

Coffee, Espresso and Milk

Our drinks arrived shortly before our meals, All Potted drinks are served in a small cup which is shaped like a pot, and finished with fruits and sprinkles of cookie crumbs.

The Potted Milk tea costs RM 9.00 and as for the Potted Mango and Strawberry Milk Shake costs only RM 12.00.

As for the coffee, espresso and milk..the orange cup is for the espresso which will be enjoyed without milk, and for the yellow cup of coffee..you can choose to add milk to turn it to latte, or simply just have it black.

Overall, I would say it is definitely worth a try, hurry up and visit Coffee Smith and I will let you be the judge!

It was a lazy Sunday noon yesterday and we thought of getting some refreshments as well as touring a small part of Penang's Heritage Area.. We decided to stop by the Busy Bodhi Cafe to have a look after all it was actually part of our plans to visit the cafe..

The name of the cafe is taken after the Bodhi tree, and being famous for Ernest Zacharevic's mural, I must say Busy Bodhi cafe is a catch for locals and tourist for a pit stop after cycling and strolling..

Busy Bodhi Sign Board

Upon arriving at the cafe, we saw that the cafe was crowded with tourists and locals having their tea/coffee breaks.. but lucky for us..there was a small table still available..

Bar

After ordering our drinks, it's time for pictures...the cafe has a small bar where they prepare our food and drinks

Roof of Umbrellas

The roof of umbrellas is the main reason we visited the cafe, with it's unique decoration of umbrellas acting as roof, it gives out a cozy and comfortable ambiance for a place to hang out..

It seems the theme of the cafe is "Umbrellas" everywhere.. Haha.. Saw this at the bar top, where the tables are made out of bottle corks, paper umbrellas, and the chairs are made out of wires and bottle caps... Hmm..creative I must say..

 Postcards for Sale

There are also postcards, magnets and key chains for sale as a souvenir/remembrance of Penang's heritage attractions

Biscuits

Came across a few jars of biscuits known as "Atapchi" in hokkien, this used to be my favourite snacks when I was a kid.. Brings back alot of old memories..

Souvenirs for Sale

More stuff for sale..

How to get a Boyfriend?

Now this is a funny sign board I came across..it looks a little faded so let me explain it..
with the title "How to get a boyfriend?"
1. Buy coffee from "Busy Bodhi cafe"
2. Give it to the guy you like, tell him if it's nice then let's get together
3. Our coffee is really nice, so you will be successful
4. If he rejects you, please come back, we will provide you with another extra HOT coffee to splash him on his face.

Would you dare try? Haha...

Mural

Now here's one of the famous mural by Ernest Zacharevic , Penang's heritage area is famous for all his murals.. and to be able to capture one of his artworks is an honor to me..

What's the boy reaching for? Visit Busy Bodhi cafe to find out!

Can Crush Game

Why play candy crush when you can play "can crush"?? The waiter at the cafe is kind enough to invite us to try out the game... Can you crush a can with just one hand??

Drinks

Finally our refreshments arrived... me and my friend Minn ordered the thirst quenchers which is the Busy Bodhi Fizz of Peach and Cranberry flavours each costing only RM 13.00
and as for brother, he ordered the Ice Latte which costs RM 12.00.

Would definitely visit the cafe again for the drinks and ambiance..

Its been a while since I've written on my blog..Decided to have an entry today to revive the blog..

It was lunch time and we decided to try something new today which is a newly opened cafe in Penang, Joyeux Cafe located at Nagore Road..

Located at the row of shop houses just a few blocks from the famous Continental Bakery, Joyeux Cafe is easy to locate and with it's warm and cozy ambiance of bricks and patio style, it is a popular hang out for lunch and tea breaks.

                                                               Joyeux Shop Sign

The shop sign will be easy to spot just right at the entrance of the cafe.

  Dining Area

 Dining Area

Plenty of tables for dining and the soft lighting gives out a cozy ambiance..Lets move on to the food!!

Soup of the Day (Tomato Soup)

For appetizers, we had the soup of the day which is Tomato Soup..It comes with 4 Olive Toast on the side with a touch of olive oil in the soup.. I would say it is slightly too sour, but still taste good.

With its generous serving, it would be good for sharing too and it will cost only RM10.90 per serving.

    Pan Seared Barramundi Fish

Here comes one of the main course, Mum ordered Fish as usual as it is her favourite, the Pan Seared Barramundi Fish comes with mashed potato, a side salad, and topped off with Hollandaise Sauce.. Love the mashed potato and the sauce goes perfectly with the well cooked fish.

The Pan Seared Barramundi costs only RM 28.90 per serving.

 B.L.T

B.L.T basically stands for Bacon, Lettuce and Tomato Sandwich, The above concept of serving is an open sandwich, which the bacon, tomatoes and lettuce are placed on top the toast without closing it up.. Topped off with mayonaise sauce, the BLT is perfect for Bacon lovers who do not have to feel guilty as there are green veges to ease the guilt of having too much meat.

A plate of B.L.T Sandwich will cost only RM 16.90

    Grilled Chicken

Next main course to arrive would be the Grilled Chicken, it comes with a side of mashed potato, salad, homemade toast and topped off with Lemon Pesto Sauce.

The Grilled Chicken will costs only RM 24.90 per serving.

   Salmon Scrambled Eggs

Finally my main course arrived, and to be honest, it wasn't what I've expected when I ordered it. The menu stated Scrambled Eggs, but it looked more like Salmon Omellette to me.. Well, anyway, it still tasted better than I expected, the Salmon Scrambled eggs comes with a side of crispy toast and salad and all this will cost only RM 14.90.

Fruit Tart

Now here comes the dessert at last..and this is something which is a must to order. The Strawberry Fruit tart comes with seasonal fruits which is mainly strawberries and blueberries wrapped around a generous amount of vanilla chantilly cream along with a scoop of sorbet sprinkled with tart crumbs..

I must say this dessert taste amazing and all the fruits, tart and cream just goes along very well..It will cost only RM 14.90 per serving and it is worth the try.

Eclair

Next dessert would be the Eclair..Hmm..not particularly my favourite but it is worth a try. The Eclair comes with choux pastry filled with generous amount of sweet filling cream with a touch of chocolate drizzle to finish it.

One serving of Eclair will cost RM14.90.

Orange Juice

What's for drinks? The orange juice that I've ordered is served in a wine-liked glass and it costs RM 9.90 per glass.

Cafe Latte

Mum as usual had her coffee fix of Cafe Latte which costs RM 10.90 per cup.

All in all, it was a great meal I've had today at the Joyeux Cafe, would definitely return again preferably for desserts and tea time.
